Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Executives have to hit quarterly targets or else

The stock will fall further into the abyss. Only lever they have or know how to use is layoffs. They are that old stodgy and incompetent.

unfortunately past rounds of layoffs were just wrong ...
not because we don't have "fat to trim" - there is freakin plenty
but because of lack of planning and lack of strategy on what to do with employees which stay
and also because of d-mb decisions of who and from where is getting laid off
Unfortunately, I think T will not layoff - we'd rather see the company going under
because here is the problem - you layoff when you can't find skilled employees? how does that work
T has a huge problem in hiring and retaining freshly hired (young) people .. just look at those intern programs .. so were total fiasco, rather recycle .. cause that is the only thing that works
strategy is soo poor, that I can't express with words

Correction:
Executives at T must meet 3Q targets, if targets are not met there will be bonuses and raises in their future.

Way too little, way too late! Should have started this 15 years ago!

To the person that wrote the bottom message. AT&T totally does not work this way.

Layoffs go way beyond one being productive and or needed. I've seen way too many examples of great employees, very much needed, getting their 60 day letters.

Many times, not all, but too many of the times, one's supervising manager may have no idea who is getting hit.

AT&T builds a business case to reduce headcount. Someone in your chain of command and HR draws up the list. It is passed by legal, to ensure compliance with laws and then folks are notified.
Demographics such as age/race/service/salary/gender/etc are all taken into consideration.

________
You need to understand how business works. Layoffs are due to unneeded workers. If you are productive and needed, they wouldn't lay you off.
