Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Undecided whether to wait for severance pay or accept a worse offer

Been quietly quitting for a long time, perhaps even since the term was invented. I'm still here just for the package. I wouldn't want to just "give" them that money. However, today is one of those days when I would gladly accept a slightly worse offer just to get out of here as soon as possible. I know I'm not the only one, because stress is huge and health is priceless.

DA and his cronies don't have a pentagram. They have the almighty dollar bill and their egos that they worship. Idolatry either way. Bob Dylan once said that all the money you make can never buy back your soul.

It took me two years to find the right opportunity outside of Honeywell. I bided my time, did the best I could, and then punched out when the time was right. I would've liked to leave earlier. But, I would have missed out on double the pay and a place where I'm an asset rather than a liability. Stay the course until the time is right or they walk you out. Either way, keep seeking and you will find.

Sept is a typical month for layoffs.
But if you don't have one you could do surgery and take the 10 weeks of federally protected medical leave. Come back just after the 401k match and quit. Use the time to job hunt.

Have a bad back or an ergo issue?

I’m 30yrs on shop floor and you are no different from the people I worked with…all desperate for site to offer a redundancy package. Biggest percentage of workers 50 and over with 20+ years service. Like yourself not wanting to leave the cr-p ho-e without a penny for all the cr-p we all have had to put up with for the last 10yrs. It’s just so sad to be in this position After many years of enjoying my work previously, working with loyal workmates it’s an utterly depressing place with no one ever feeling valued etc….yeah complete cr-p ho-e now

The waiting can be torture with the toxic culture, joke of a raise for being overworked and underpaid then the PIP lottery, all along with the risk of being tapped on the shoulder and you’re fired versus getting severance. Plan your exit and leave on your own terms, your health and sanity is more important than any job my friend

I could have waited 7 months and received a guaranteed package due to plant closure. But I couldn't stand it any more and punched out on my own terms. No regrets, including not having received a package.

Waiting leaves you with an excuse to be the victim.
You have already decided to leave.
Stay or go... victim or boss. Your choice.

I tried to get a severance and watched all around me be granted parole and paid transition to retirement.

The severance package in the teamsters is a joke. $1000 per year.

Let me give you a little advice. Some companies are offering sign on bonuses. Which equals more or the same as what you would get from a severance package from Honeywell.

I’ve been off on vacation. There’s some great opportunities occurring for me. I’m definitely leaving the company. With more vacation and no toxic environment. The way some of these people act. I’m hoping the company just screws the he-l out of them. What comes around goes around.

This company offers good Friday off. Take it away! You sure don’t believe in what it stands for. This company is so far away from the Bible and Christ. I really believe that they have a pentagram upstairs. Where they worship. You know who we cannot be mentioned.

The turnaround is so high. They sacrifice people. You know who should be mentioned. It’s like the Harry Potter movie.

By the way! The company is so crooked. The Pentagon should take contracts away from them. Since you continuously cannot supply parts for the military. Which doesn’t have parts made by another country. Like China or whoever. This company hires people who are unethical and the company culture is unethical. Like Forrest Gump. Run like the wind and don’t look back.

If you dont have an offer you are just day dreaming. Get out and do. Stop day dreaming.
You are depressed and it impacts more than work.

Yeah I don’t have it in me to quietly quit or slack. But I’m with you I definitely do not feel like this is a company that values my efforts.

I've been trying to quietly retire for a year now. Have not been very successful because I don't want to let down my cool boss and the wonderful people that I work with. In fact my boss is working actively to protect us from Honeywell and is suffering much stress as a result.

Plus, waiting for a severance rarely works. Maybe try using their unlimited vacation to get what you want?

I've worked with these folks for over 30 years and I love em all, but the frustration with Honeywell's disrespect is palpable.

Honeywell's actions of late are making it easier to consider leaving even though I'd like to work another year or so.
