Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Does Connected Recognition matter to you? Would you be happy if received or..?

There are two colleagues (both young ladies) in my team who very often send Connected Recognition to each other. They haven't actually done anything outstanding, but they just send it to each other every after any easy task completes that anybody can do.

In the meantime, I always engage in more important and strenuous things, and work much more that they do. But I haven't received any Connected Recognition. Not that I'm saying that I want it because CR seems so a childish and stupid system. It's more of a mark of completion of any easy task any high schooler can do.

Have you or have you not received any CR? What do you think?

Whats your problem? Be happy that there is such system in place to say "thanks" to someone who helped you.
Use it with people that are supporting you in your day to day routine and make them smile.
Maybe its exactly this behavior of yours that you dont get any

"It’s a popularity contest on my team. I wish it would go away."

I can't agree more! It's nothing but an unfair rite. It's just like kids or friends playing with each other. What a childish sh*t that is. It should be abolished soon.

I haven't received any CR before, but those who receive a CR get any money? Really? How much per CR?

You can chose among gift-cards. Among a lot of useless gift-card, they offer Amazon gift-cards and prepaid visa credit cards ... which is basically money.

Your peers can give up to $50 without manager approval ... and I believe up to $500 with manager approval. Your manager can give more. The CR page links to a wiki with all the details.

The CR value is after tax.

As mentioned before, I get roughly $500 per year. That does not make me rich. It lets me buy nice things from time to time.

You'd think the manager would pretty quickly figure out what these two ladies are doing.

Each team has a CR budget, and the manager has to approve each CR request. Some managers will encourage teams to use up the CR budget if it looks to be unused by the end of the quarter, or will send out announcements saying not to submit CR requests because the budget is drying up from too much use that quarter.

On my team, there doesn't seem to be much use of CR on a regular basis and the managers and/or director will send out CRs towards the end of the quarter to those who did some "visible" work that got reported up the chain in some quarterly OPS review.

Let’s send each ELT member a $25 CR award for their excellent FY22 contributions. They definitely deserve it!!

Oh, he-l no. Assuming that only 60,000 employees do that, that's a cool $1.5M total in CR for each ELT member. They don't need the extra compensation.

But it is pretty funny to think what their reaction would be to receive a $25 CR reward!

"The company wide average are 4 CR per year (without these two ladies perhaps 3.99).

4 CR?

  1. 99?

What unit are you talking about? 4 dollars? 3.99 dollars?

The company wide average are 4 CR per year (without these two ladies perhaps 3.99). That's roughly how many I get coming to roughly $500 per year.

always engage in more important and strenuous things, and work much more that they do.

This will increase your IPF and may help you to get promoted.

You get CRs for helping co-workers.

You mentioned of the fact that they are young. Yes, the CR system is created for that generation; they get small "tip" once complete something. Without, the young will feel very lagging behind in terms of productivity in the company of heavy relationship like Cisco.
Don't be jealous. You solve more complex problem than them. Then, better chance for promotion. Is it fair?

Yes they are gaming the system. You need to have some acknowledgement from your peers every so often too. It's a terrible way to live but the world is screwed up.

They are playing the game well.
Either you create an outlook rule to auto delete all of these 🥕 they dangle in front of you. Or you play the game.
I have an outlook rule set. Best thing I did in a long time.
