Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Colleagues continue to leave

I can only guess who is next to leave from my team but I hope it will be me. Have you too noticed that Exxon is no longer even trying to slow down or stop attrition?

You should be looking to leave.

At least in the US, it’s all going according to plan. The HR VP needs to compete on her PDS with other senior execs that are responsible for finding oil or making product. How can she compete, other than by meeting or exceeding headcount reduction targets in high cost locations?

I told my boss at the beginning of 2021 that it appeasers said if management wanted people to leave.

I think that’s still the case today.

Attrition is desired hence no action taken. The best people are leaving is the only problem.

Attrition is not bad thing if it were the toxic brown nosers, liars, and clueless incompetents that leave.

These deadwoods are hanging on for dear life still leeching off the remaining talent in the company.

Either they still want the attrition or they' remarkably incompetent at retaining people. I'm guessing it's a bit of both. As others have said, this feels like a managed decline.

“Colleagues continue to leave”

The OP says this as if it were a bad thing.

People who should move on and want to move in are moving on. This is good.

When I left a few months ago, no one seemed interest. Asked to speak to HR. No response. They are not interested unless there is some policy broken.

Attrition all helps to achieve the numbers. You are just a number.

Surprised again last Friday with another email from colleague leaving.

There is talk that Management concerned about attrition but the lack of action indicates the attrition is acceptable or possibly desired.

I am looking, but being very picky.
