Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Quiet quitting is a bad decision

Isn't quiet quitting just a waste of time? I think that those who decide to do so might fall into the trap and end up becoming unmarketable and stuck in this place.

Not only have I quite quitted but I’m actively speaking out against all the bad things IBM does. Your VP behaving like a tw-t? Tell HR. Your manager acting up because they have unattainable goals? Tell them right in their fu----g face. This place is a joke. I’m getting paid to help my clients. Everything else is a nuisance and I’m done with all of it.

Why work for a system that doesn't work for you. Jobs don't give a sh-t about you at all.

there is nothing wrong with it, it's called setting limits and boundaries

A lot of people seem to confuse "quiet quitting", i.e. doing what you are paid to do and no more, not answering email weekends and evenings, etc., with sandbagging, i.e. not doing even the bare minimum.

I really dislike the term, FWIW. Doing what you are paid for should be the norm, it shouldn't need a special name, particularly a derogatory one.

I was quiet quitting at IBM before it was called quiet quitting. Don’t worry about being stuck at IBM because eventually you’ll be RAed. And don’t worry about becoming unmarketable because there’s a shitload of jobs out there. But don’t be a du----s—keep your skills up.

Gung ho IBMers are fools. Nobody of any import actually believes in IBM. It’s all BS.

I don’t see anything wrong with it. I am doing exactly what I am being paid for and see no reason why it could backfire in any way. Plus I feel much happier ever since I stopped stressing and investing myself completely into a company that clearly doesn’t deserve it.
