Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Juicy Rumors

Maybe this thread can steer us Layoffers back on the right track of sharing juicy company rumors we’ve heard. Anyone got anything?

For example:

  • raise percentages
  • sites being pressured to chat OPEX cost, which implies lower raises
  • changing vacation allocation in 2023
  • new HR policies slipping under the radar
  • “restacking” employees at EMHC (love the lack of empathy with that term; stacking us like objects on a shelf)

I got a 5% in the period 2019-2023.

So, extrapolating, expect 1%.

Also, use the following rule of thumb: when Shell gives 8%, Exxon gives 3%.

Ask your friends at Shell, then multiply their salary increase by 0.375

A lot of credibility to the M&A rumors - look at the career history of the current CFO. She’s a veteran of big corporate M&A deals.

I heard we are going to sell all the dishwashers in the coffee areas. The revenue from the sell will fund the salary increase for everyone below CL30.

OP here, this is some serious juice. A lot of things make more sense if M&A is happening.

Latest rumour mill for EMTEC is that they’re working on re-orging into East and West. Anything in the Western Hemisphere will be supported from Spring, anything in the Eastern Hemisphere will be supported by Tech Centers. This will mean Principals and Senior Principals in BTC, not just low-competency level 1/2 work like the lies management has been peddling.

The rumor refers to a merger, not an acquisition.

Typical ExxonMobil grandiosity complex.

She’ll and CVX seem too large to gain approval from regulators.

Hess seems small enough to gain approval and also has significant proven reserves well known to EM.

Buy Hess and regain that 45% share of Guyana that EM sold before drilling first exploration well?

Our Executives talk to Hess daily and this could be a topic that comes up.

Merger rumor is true. Likely will include layoffs. Explains why nothing is being fine to stop the attrition. Well that plus plan to outsource all the jobs.

Here's a rumor I heard from more than one source:

They are wrapping up for a merger.

Yes. Headcount reductions, asset disbursements, reorgs, all is part of a master plan in the making: to merge.

If you don’t believe me just look at the org charts and hiring going on in India.

Pages and pages of India Roles right now being sought out. Take a look. There is likely a posting for the job you are doing. Don’t be fooled by the US listings. Many are just dummy placeholders. The India ones are actually hiring while USA is not.

Permian cost above field reduction study is happening right now in Houston. Corp is trying to figure out how to send more roles overseas or to Houston. For roles in Permian they want to maximize use of Expats who can then return to their home country and eventually replace those who are supporting from Houston. Uncon employees should be particularly concerned as the question is already being asked if employees can support from Houston why not Bangalore.

Oh goody 🤗. Fortunately, I learned years ago, paid off debt, accrued no more, banked and am now enjoying life and work. It’s doable for anyone, we get the tools handed to us on a silver platter, just a bit of discipline is all. Accordingly, they can lay me off, fire me, or whatever, and it’s all good. Take stock, and take action, you are not a victim unless you alone decide to be.
