Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

ATT reorganizations and layoffs are never done for

Strategy. They are done for necessity tonhit a number on a spreadsheet with total disregard for the ripple effects. Successful companies have a plan in place that limits disruption and keeps morale high above water. ATT just has fire drills, spreadsheets, power points, and leaders pushed up through a horrible system that never quantifies that's leaders production and effectiveness. Just a terrible structure and culture at ATT.

Ever notice that Stankey slobbers when he talks and drools when he walks.
There's a word for him in Spanish that when translated means "slobber mouth".

successful companies give the people they hire work and not hire new to do the work while the people already there sit there with their thumbs up there but.

in other words they don't over hire just to lay them off later.

to much hire your buddy and nepotism going on and too much hiring based on location.

totally mismanaged company

WoW have times changed with AT&T, before Stankey ran the company in the ditch. Used to be a cradle to grave job several years ago. Now you are lucky to get 5 years in before being booted out. You could retire with a decent pension, healthcare, decent death benefit, and other bennies. Nowadays, nothing except your 401K. Good luck with that!

T thinks change represents progress and it resets the clock on serial bad decisions. The problem is, the markets see T for what it is….a company that makes very bad decisions and has no clear direction or viable business plan. The annuity it has is eroding and the investment in the business is shrinking. The only hope is a complete breakup and focus on the only real revenue generating product…mobility. Unfortunately, leadership believes it can be more…

Reorg's have nothing do with anything except power maneuvering.

Stankey created himself a job with several direct reports after demoting McFresh to COO. Just listen this flowery language, "adjusting our management structure to make sure we are set up tome at pace with our rapidly changing industry." The best adjustment is for Stankey to go away, instead of inserting himself and creating another set of bureaucracy dead weight.

Stop pretending your educated because you got some bogus online degree from some place like University of Phoenix or Columbia Southern.

Stop pretending you know what's going on or how a company is run just because you got your GED.

This post is 100% accurate. The issue is it won’t change until someone outside if T is CEO and has a better vision.
Today, we are stuck with. 30 plus year employee who looks at management as it’s always been. I had Stank for a VP once and he manages the business the same way he managed his department, with layoffs for numbers and no real vision for the future.
