I don't know how people leaving affects you, but to say that attrition is not a bad thing is a bit strange. How is that not a bad thing??? That's exactly why I've been doing almost triple workloads since the beginning of this year and by now I'm completely exhausted.

Just ask the low-wage folks in Hungary and Argentina to pick up the slack.
@1iwq+1iHjePAg - Re: who is leaving. More and more experienced employees are leaving. No opportunities and the company is rife with age discrimination. No future year once you hit 40 unless you are a favorite pet.
Not merger, spin-off of downstream, like Marathon or ConocoPhillips.
Attrition is desired for now as corporation prepares for the merger.
If you really think things will get better later on, you're dillusional. The company culture does not jive with rationalizing processes. In fact, I guarantee a justification for sending jobs overseas is the processes and systems they have should mostly guide the work. I can't tell you how many times in my career at Exxon that naive management preached developing/following systems or procedures over problem solving and good old fashioned ingenuity. This is the Era of engineers who got degrees with good grades because they had access to the solutions manual. When all you learn are fundamental engineering theory, it's hard to imagine actual problem solving. So, here we are.
Everybody is leaving
Just curiosity, are these experienced hires leaving or?
I should clarify that the attrition doesn’t bother me because I know they are leaving to make more money and be treated better so good for those who leave. It is those of us left behind still loyal to the company for unknown reasons that I feel bad for. We really need to wake up and realize this company doesn’t give a damn about any of us.
The attrition doesn’t bother me. The issues causing it and in action by management have totally and completely demoralized me.
Loading the technicians down in Annandale like pack mules , no one left here to do the work, employees leaving weekly. Terrible site to work at……lost all faith in management
Don't do anything extra. Recognise me or accept that you'll have to do less with less.
There is little reward or recognition for doing extra. Either you get a pat on the back for the extra effort or they will PIP you because you are perceived as inefficient.
The problem is we are trying to stick to the same processes and workflow without the staff to support it. It will be painful in the short term, but once we adjust and stop doing stuff that makes no sense, it will get better. Will take some time, but it will get better. Long term, this is a healthy thing for the corporation's survivability.
They are hoping that you will leave.
It might not be bad for the company in the short term, but long term, it’s going to bite EM in the bu-t badly.
The experience going out the door is just one part of the problem. Like you said, having people work the equivalent of 2 to 3 jobs can’t continue indefinitely. The company has created such a toxic soup full of indifference and disregard for people and their skills, that EM will ultimately pay a hefty price for their actions.
