Mandatory Work From Office

Our Sr.Director asked the team to work from office on tuesday and Thursday and optional monday/wednesday . Is this happening cisco wide? My job doesn't really needs me to be at work and I'm more productive working from home which my manager is ok with.
But seeing sr.director's email , my manager is asking me to work from office 3 days a week

Just want to know if this is happening cisco wide

It's definitely not Cisco wide. My Sr. Director is a "remote" worker who doesn't even live in a state w/ a Cisco office other than maybe a small sales office leased in a multi-tenant office building.

All of the managers under the Director are all "remote" and they are like the director and live w/in a couple of hrs of a sales office, or are a LONG commute from the offices in Austin or San Jose.

Even many of the individual contributors are spread out in states with nothing but a sales office. It's really hard on them once every 3 yrs when they have to visit an office to setup their laptops because it can't be done over VPN or remotely. (Or, used to be the case. Still seems like some issues can only be fixed on-network.)

While I live near a major Cisco campus, they took away my desk and made me take everything home. I think I work as productively at home as I do from the office, but now I spread my work across a long portion of the day and take breaks throughout the day so it's not all concentrated between 8-5.

I definitely will not be as productive splitting my time between working at home and at the office. I'm not productive w/o multiple screens, and using my keyboard and mouse/trackpad. I'm a touch typist and changing keyboard brands/styles messes me up. I'm not carrying a keyboard and mouse or trackpad into the office with me every other day and having to resize all my apps to fit into the smaller monitors at work compared to my large monitor at home is a huge waste of time. Unless they provide me w/ a dedicated desk again, replace the monitor I used to have at work, and provide a keyboard/mouse/trackpad to stay on my desk at work, then going back and forth is stupid. I'd rather work all week in the office or all week at home.

Going into the office and staying home alternatively only works for those whose job is primarily meetings and not actual work.

Already made it clear to my mgr that if they start to require returning to office, I will hand in my badge. I can get about 5 offers under a month.

What makes you stay at Cisco up to now?

I guess we are going back to office. Until now we had one day in the office. Manager already pointed that we'll soon pick a second day, and there is already talk about being three days a week in the office.
That's all folks, no more Covid, we are back to sad reality of office work.

No more quiet quitting or working 2 jobs simultaneously.

You can work on job 2 while in office for job 1. You can even ask co-works from job 1 to discuss problems on job 2. Imagine the possibilities!

:P

This is part of the hybrid work program and Cisco and other companies are pushing it to sell hybrid work products.

Everyone will be required to work from RTP on Mondays/Wednesdays and Bangalore on Tuesdays/Thursdays. We can still work from home on Fridays.

Looks like your director knows about quiet quitting. Now you can only goof around two days a week.
