Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Wells Fargo is forming a Union, we should too!

Employees from Wells Fargo are in the process of forming a union. This is huge news since banks are notoriously anti-union and like all corporations would rather spend millions in lawsuits than succumbing to workers’ requests.

If they are successful this will completely change the playing field. Hopefully us at bofa will unionize as well.

Remember, the record breaking profit, the refusal to provide COL increases for workers, the millions of dollars salary increase for Moynihan, the wage theft when we’re forced to work extra hrs unpaid - all of this is taking away from our paycheck and a union can help.

We should demand WFH/Hybrid, demand accurate COL wage increases so that we can afford to buy homes and food (and not just for those making less than 100k), and demand lower health insurance costs.

It can be done, we just have to believe and understand that we have the actual power.

Unions are looking for new industries to tap into. They don’t really care. They need more membership dues to cover the declining union membership in other industries that’s been happening over the last 30 years. Nope.

If it can work for CBA after CBA, decade after decade in the sports industrial complex, it can work for banks too. Whatever form/shape it takes, sign me up - union or otherwise. Workers in this country need more tools to dissent if we ever want to effectively mitigate the worst of unethical corporate behavior.

Yeah, that's just what we need ... a do-nothing union to pull more out of our checks. Hard pass.

No thanks - unions only really benefit union leaders.

How many of the 16,000 jobs were "saved" when AT&T decided to cut their "CWA protected labor force"?

Is there a way to unionize as a major banking group as a whole, regardless of the company we work for? This way all bank employees would move (and make demands) as a block, instead of individually. I'm thinking out loud only, I have no legal knowledge on the matter, but it'd be interesting.
