Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Another colleague left

Attrition has become a concern. I don't know what the overall situation is with attrition in the company, but our team is getting smaller. If someone else leaves soon, I really don't know how it will all work. Is it perhaps in Cisco's interest that people leave? Looks like it is.

@4ipj+1iJ47sAD the answer to your question “ How is having a few grade 10's pushed out increasing workloads substantially on "most of us"? “ is elementary. Because there is no backfilling . That is why the workload On the rest are increasing with every person leaving. Above grade 10 ar being pushed out ( not grade 10 - not yet). The directors start at grade 13.

... During the last 7-8 months the management has become unduly hostile towards people above Grade 10. They are being pushed out or made to feel unwanted. As a result, the workloads have increased substantially on most of us. Its spiraling out of control

How is having a few grade 10's pushed out increasing workloads substantially on "most of us"? Every team I've worked on has a couple of grade 6's who we hired after their internships as grade 4's. Then the bulk of the team is grade 8's who do the work. We have an architect and a team lead who are grade 10, and then there's the manager, the manager's manager, the director and the Sr Director and the SVP. I'm assuming that the manager and manager's manager are grades 11 & 12, and I have no idea what the grades of the director, sr. director or SVP are, but you know they're 14+.

So, how is it that you have a ton of 10's getting sh-t on and leaving resulting in the dumping of work on the rest of you 10's? I'm on the wrong team if grade 10 is the average grade on your team.

They are not backfilling. Instead they are dumping the work of the employees who have departed on their colleagues forcing them to do the work of 2 to 3 people for the pay of one. Some of those employees are resorting to quiet quitting or hard quitting. The ones who are hard quitting are not being backfilled. It’s a vicious cycle.

Attrition is normal. What's not normal at Cisco is that there are no backfills at all. We effectively have a self inflicted LR, and I'm going to guess the ELT doesn't mind.

We are grieving for her Majesty Queen. Cisco is giving 2 days off to some teams in UK and Scotland. Thank you Chuck!

OP why are you posting this? This has been happening for years now...nothing new. Now if you said your team had actually hired someone that would have been breaking news. But people quitting who cares it's Cisco happens daily with no back fill.

Appears HR troll @vfc+1iJ47sAD is out trying to shut people up. Not working, is it?

@hzy+1iJ47sAD Please shut up about UK SE drama. We don't care.

OP, try quiet quitting instead of taking on extra work.

As some others have posted, situation is the same in our SE team in UK. There was a management change in 2020. During the last 7-8 months the management has become unduly hostile towards people above Grade 10. They are being pushed out or made to feel unwanted. As a result, the workloads have increased substantially on most of us. Its spiraling out of control
