Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I'm a retired CL30+

Most of us retired executives agree that XOM is still overstaffed and more reductions in headcount are needed. We support cutting bottom 10%. We support asset sales to reduce headcount. We support higher Dividends even if it means fewer employees or moving jobs to low cost countries like India, Argentina and Hungary. I do not understand why headcount increased between 2017 and 2021, that made the reductions painful. If we had steadily reduced headcount from 2017 thru today using PIP, we would not had to have involuntary layoffs in 2020.

Well, you never know.
If, for example, Lee R. has the long covid, he might have made some bad investments or down-bet the cowboys (wyoming) last week.
His great grand-kids in public schools is his greatest fear.

It has to be an executive because he's agreeing to cut everything except any executive position. The notion is that the company couldn't survive without more of these mo--ns.

If this is an exec, he verifies that pip was used as a layoff tool. Employees let go without a decent severance. Actually the ones that were involuntary layoff were better off than the pip ones.

The company and the world would probably be a much better place if you had been PIPd and never reached any position in leadership (especially an executive level).

Most of us non executives are fully aware of what EM executives support and I (for one), couldn’t care less what retired executives support. Executives are the reason we are in such a mess right now. Before anyone chooses to only blame current executives, please remember that this toxic culture wasn’t created overnight. It’s been cultivated for many years. We are just reaping what has been sown.

We are bombarded in word and action everyday with what the company’s priorities are and it is never the employees or the talent of those employees.

I’d say I’m flabbergasted you thought that anyone needed to hear what retired executives think, but (no offense) that is typical EM executive behavior. They always seem to cling to their decisions years after there is ample evidence showing their decisions are incredibly bad.
