Strange feeling of guilt for going to competitors

I am very disappointed in Ford and the leadership that has destroyed the company culture. I got an offer from a competitor. I can't say that I'm not happy about it, because it will be a big step for my career. This company owns me nothing and I own this company nothing. But who would have thought that in the end I will be feeling guilt because I will now work for competitors? I believe that this feeling is not rare among those who have been loyal to this company for years.

I'm a Ram/Jeep/Chrysler customer now. Ford will never see another red cent from me.

Just purchased a new Toyota and it didn’t bother me one bit. I’m over Ford and they are over me.

Don't feel bad. Nobody cares for you despite all the family and team talk. Go where to money or job satisfaction is and don't look back. You'll see it's not much different at competitors although I do feel GM's open door policies and work processes support makes it easier to succeed in certain ways - but ageism seems worse. End of the day it's a paycheck

@1dkl+1iOOQaUZ If Doug was that good why did Elon Musk have to personally oversee the Model 3 Launch? Oh that’s right, Dougy boy sh-t the bed and soon after bailed and went back to Apple. I trust Elon Musk’s judge of character more than any snakeoil salesman leader at Ford. Doug is the C crew when it comes to leadership.

You sre feeling guilty because you are going to miss your teammates (well, some of them). You are feeling exactly what Ford wants you to feel...like a number. Good luck in your new job...and never look back.

Either you are Doug, or your sphincter is speaking for you.

To the last post: You could not be more wrong about Doug Field. His credentials and qualifications for senior leadership are well known in the automotive, or more accurately, in the electrified vehicle space.

His directives thus far at Ford have been all the right moves for Ford's future prosperity.

They feel minimal if any guilt nor take accountability for their inept leadership. I would not feel bad leaving. This company has done everything to systematically divide the workforce. Whether it be blue vs. E, race, gender, etc. Doug is a worm and the fact he is not a leader will be brought to the surface. Farley ha, you can kiss the Ford family’s a-s for so long, when you start fu----g with their money, consider your days numbered.

The last rounds were an act that divided the workers. My severance will always be a sore point of discussion for those who were not offered it. The only thing we will have to discuss how much NESC needs to be streamlined. NESC, Alight, PeopleFirst, Tango and the likes is way too complicated and they were holding our hand with 9 months of benefits. I can’t imagine the mess when everyone jumps on the Cobra bandwagon Dec1. NESC and the likes will still be digging out from the Aug groups. If you are going Nov30 prepare for the month of December trying to figure out the process.

Just remind yourself that it's only business. Don't let your affection for the good people you've worked with at Ford be translated into guilt for leaving the company.
