It’s not just where your at, The entire corporation has promoted ignorance for so long it’s doomed. Baton Rouge is a hotbed for promoting to make numbers right per HR and it shows. We have no more good group leads, lost our Claims document folks that knew and cared about our site documents as well as a lot of engineers that were very talented. Did they discipline the people responsible? Nope. Off to the next site and off to the next group to destroy. Leaving soon myself. This place is a mad house.

Emit supervisor dismantled a group and then left to new group for his own benefit. Throughout his reign he tired to take first option for Expats and continually favored his buddies. To add to that new manager in the group doesn’t help any team members career and continued to move people out of group. Only worried about his career. Tough to work for Emit when leaders only worry about their path. When you work on global projects with the business and your functional manager doesn’t engage or know what you do is embarrassing and shows Emit still doesn't get it. Emit lower case not a real group to represent XOM.

Correct. Supervisor's performance is measured in terms of how they manage upwards, not downwards. That is why the company is dying.

They dump their work on their reports with no accountability. Good if you can make their prophecy come true. Bad if you can’t make miracles happen. Never outshine your boss because they will find some excuse to move you out. Their bosses don't care as long as their career gets elevated.

It’s common knowledge that most managers and senior are not competent in the areas they manage. This is why the company is going into a death spiral.

I once had a supervisor who advised me that I need to fake it more. Seems wrong.

This same supervisor collaborated with another clueless another supervisor within their own little bubble. Caused major damage in business. But all this is swept under the rug.

@OP Well, quit then. It’s not like it’s hard to find a job.

Why do so many of you insist on remaining in jobs that you hate? Just find a place where you want to work and go work there.

Our supervisor lied, moved to a different state, and then ghosted everyone for a year. Somehow he still has a position.
