Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Get Ready for LR-Would Have Been Nice if CR Shared This at $1B Dollar Vegas Meeting

Barclays analysts on Wednesday upgraded Arista Networks Inc. but downgraded Cisco Systems Inc., citing differences in international exposure and growth prospects in cloud, campus workspaces and data centers for the network providers.
They said Cisco's cloud business has "stalled".
And they said its pivot toward more software had been slow, and that rivals were growing faster in that space.
And the firm said the network-gear giant had continued to lose share in switching, routing and wireless LAN products.

I know the Board of Directors are all Chuckies buddies, but at what point do they resign and be replaced by a board that works on behalf of the stockholders

People-Just remember the Cisco playbook
Cisco stock buybacks of billions and then just give back RSU's to CR and his clueless management team every year

… no one knows what Webex is…

Many people know what WebEx is. When I mention I work at Cisco they yell at me about everything that is wrong with it even though I never worked on that project.

All of Cisco's rock stars now work for the competition
The no-talent Cisco employees left spend their days carpooling their kids to school and laugh that management let's them get away with working a few hours a day

Reminds me of an old John Roth quote that Nortel could learn how to implement TCP/IP before cisco could learn how to implement 5 nines - neither came true.

What LR? Cisco is not gonna LR anybody. People are LR'ing themselves by leaving in droves. Chuck & Fran are laughing all the way to the bank. Don't you remember at one of the Check-ins where Chuck & Fran were both smiling?

Cisco reminds me of Nortel, once elected the tech company of the year about 20 odd years ago. They rested on their laurels and paid the price. Well, the common workers paid the price while the upper management had golden parachutes of course.

Cisco is treading the same path. Now customers, wall street, competitors - everyone has seen the light. Competition is eating our lunch as our directors and ELT do their raves and rants on webinars and All hands. Thing is, Cisco has not come up with any innovation after the spin-in of Insieme who did the ACI and NX9K innovation. And that was circa 2012-2014. 10 years is a very long time in tech. This is a dinosaur about to go extinct.

Once our venerable SED in UK was asked about innovation at Cisco during one of his trademark "Tech Talks" where hardly any Cisco strategy is ever discussed; instead we get insights on such Cisco relevant stuff as electric shaving razors, smartphone cameras, weird tech , EV charge points etc. He ranted non-stop about "innovating" everything from ML/AI to DevNet to Quantum for about 20 min without saying absolutely anything likely because he had no idea what he was talking about.

This is where we are at Cisco. Conniving leading the helpless. Marketing mumbo-jumbo before technology. Recipe for extinction.

All this cloud talk but no cloud offering, no security cloud offering, and no one knows what Webex is. But if this is not a hardware company then what is it? A bunch of amateurs running this business into the ground.

ofk+1iQcbvuq -> I dont think anyone takes a risk of 2 jobs. Even if they do it might be less than 1% folk in tech. Also how can company catch those 1% ?

Cisco will only survive financially if they terminate half of the current employees that work from home part time and/or have a second job

@ewi+1iQcbvuq Hope you are being sarcastic. TAC has become useless. Even licensing cases get escalated. SDA has bombed out. It was a "solution" created by cellotaping together various Cisco acquisitions and simply does not work for average customers. DNAC is at best an assurance solution, forget full SDA. But then most customers have Solarwinds. Why would they want DNAC and be forced to pay for ISE?! Ridiculous!

What are you talking about? Licensing is totally fixed. Lead times are down to 1 week. TAC delivering all 5's on customer sat. Customers love the simple concise GUIs like DNAC, Viptela, Nexus Dashboard.

And they are right. At Cisco software sales translates to complex license magic. Sell the same old software under a different label and split it up into different license tires. Because customers are "stupid", they won't notice the smoke and mirrors. That is the master business plan. Well, customers are far cleverer than the ELT figured them to be and so are the competition. On top of that, the competition is far more agile than rusty Cisco. There is no cloud business to stall because there is no cloud business; Cisco, at their strategic best, figured Cloud was a hype.

No R&D budget. Despite all the hype around ML/AI no ML/AI services (has anyone seen an AS SKU for those?), just a bunch of worthless "directors" and "managers" raving powerpoint magic on LinkedIn hoping to catch someone's eye so that they can get their next promotion. No backfill. Needlessly aggravate higher grades so that they quit themselves and the company can save some OPEX - and the so called "directors" get promoted because the OPEX has been saved. It's a vicious cycle.

A VP and long timer at Cisco posted here awhile back that this company has at most another 7 to 8 years. I disagree. They are not gonna last another 7 years. Perhaps not even the recession that's coming in. The titanic is sinking.

Need a New Technical CEO ASAP
Sad that Cisco is the current day Nortel while all the Ex-Cisco smart technical execs that Chuckie fired when he became CEO steal all the customers
