I'm still trying to figure out how my LL5 has only FOUR direct reports... I guess I'll just add that to things that make you go hmmm...

So here’s what happened in GM in Oct 2018: thousands were let go because those eligible for retirement 30+ years did not take the package. Instead they waited it out and then were forced out in March. Ford always follows the others. If your eligible for retirement take the package and then go work somewhere else if you want to keep working. Way more easier to leave on your own terms than to have someone walk you out traumatized the day you least expect it. The job market is hot now and there is life after Ford.
Why would they do a SIRP for folks with a pension that is close to maturing or matured? They know the interest rate hike will force the hands of many on the fence.
Give us a package and we will go.
Some departments received extensions to trim down during the last round. Have also heard a second wave could occur before the year ends.
Have heard more before Q4
yesterday some guy was talking to the media on more layoffs!
Just do a voluntary already.
NESC can not handle any more layoffs or retirements. They are at capacity. Ford was a$$ backwards. Should have offered retirement 1st (those with 30 would have all jumped at it). Then involuntaries. This ship will never upright with this kind of thinking.
So what does that buy? 1 quarter? 6 mos maybe?
The rumor mill be churning. Where there's smoke, there's fire.
Retirements will only scratch the surface. They will be blowing more people out sooner rather than later. After all, they don't want to do it too close to Christmas.
Rumor is, next month around with a RTO edict.
Unlikely, given that there will be a large number of retirements.
5,000 more before the year ends seems likely from the rumblings
