That's great impacted employees are getting so much notice. This is the one good thing T is doing.
I don't think the number of people leaving this year due to the pension/interest rate will be as high as the company thinks. I believe that the state of the economy will scare people into staying longer than they would have liked. The economy is in the toilet and getting worse by the month and this administration isn't doing a thing to help it move in the other direction. They're trying to decimate the middle class and getting people to become more and more dependent on government. Jobs might become scarce if those leaving still need to work due to age. Best of luck to all having to make that decision, I wish you the best in your difficult choice!

Oxymoron all around, thank you so much for all you do and there are so much work to be done. BTW, some of you will be surplus, that is exactly how much company values its employees. They should put that on a TikTok to attract college hires, it will be viral for sure.
The reason for waiting until 2023 is they have no clue on how many will be leaving this year due to the projected lump sum drop. Why offer a package or have to payout a severance if the numbers get meet or exceeded by people volunteering to leave?
Who in the meeting made the statement about 2023?
How direct / detailed was the comment about layoffs in 2023?
If they know they are doing it in 2023, why would they wait?

As much as this company loves metrics, they should do one for college hires, how many of them are still around after 4 years. I'll bet my retirement funds that is embarrassing low. Keep on hiring them, washing, rinse and repeat.
We need to eliminate 40% of the workforce now.

They said prior to that 140 new college grads were just hired and put to work. Who will be going away so the new hire can stay?
Yup. A lot of automation processes coming that will be causing some targeted layoffs :(
