Ford is the cheapest company around. They are not giving packages when there is the urgency of the lump sum value dropping significantly. They are counting on people chasing the lump sum and leaving. No need to pay people more to leave.

After all of the fumbles lately, the retirees and potential retirees desperately need a goodwill gesture. It would be an act of goodwill to give packages now. Will get all those fence sitters off the fence. Otherwise many retirees and their families will not remain Ford buyers and most will end up going to competitors.

OP - why do you think you are entitled to a handout from Ford?

I wonder if has occurred to some of the angry posters that perhaps their manager 'spared' them from last month's cuts because of their greedy demands for severance to go along with their lump sump.

Enough with the voluntary packages talk. You had your chance in 2021 when it was offered. Do people not remember? I’ve seen many of these separations over the years and it is a voluntary followed by an involuntary if they don’t meet the numbers. You’ll have to take your chances in 2023. Good luck.

No one knows if packages would be offered next year. At most I would think they’d be 6 months max. Going with that, compare 6 months to the 22% cut in lump sum.

Your package is a larger lump sum than if you waited until next year! That's the only carrot this time around.
