Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'm not asking for much

After spending more than eleven years here, a severance of two weeks per year would be enough to get me to leave voluntarily. I don't even need any extras, like extended medical coverage or whatever. Just give me two weeks per year and I'll be on my merry way.

If you’re asking for more then two weeks pay and a pink slip, then you’re asking for too much. They’d prefer you quit.

The pervasive mentality of "they'll have to pay me if they want me to leave" is one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen in my life

Dude, just leave. Don’t ask for a penny. After 11 years you accumulated a fortune.

Easier to just manage people out of the business. No severance and no packages.

20 years made a million sent my boss a box of Cuban cigars and a thank you note and he gets a purdy Christmas card every year since my layoff. No company is responsible for you. Get on with living.

"...and eventually let you go with a comfy package."

Why do people insist on spreading misinformation?

There are no packages. There is the door that you will be shown, and there is severance according to terms of the severance plan under which you're covered.

That's it.

Quiet quitting will get you there. Log in but dont do anything aside from a few emails per day. They will threaten you first then plead with you and eventually let you go with a comfy package.

Don't forget. "People are our most important ASSet".

I heard a real Stinker say
a. "Let them eat cake".
b. "Only the little people pay taxes".
c. "I know more about everything than anybody".
d. "Why would we pay THOSE people to leave".
e. "Why are we paying that much money to connect 2 wires".
f. "We need to rightsize".
I could repeat 50 more items but gotta go to break in beautiful DLLSTXRIxxx

11 years? Glad you're not asking for much because only 11 years, you haven't given much.

You may have an opportunity to "volunteer" depending on how your org approaches the headcount reduction process.

You volunteering does not guarantee you will be selected, though in my experience it has been the longer tenured folks that have done so, and they were accommodated.

As far as severance, you'll get what is spelled out in the severance plan. You need at least 13 years to get the 50% of salary that is caps out at (Management). Severance Plans are on HR One Stop.

This place is far too broke to offer decent packages.

Stankey and Stevenson buy and sell follies have stripped out far too much value to provide anything. These two make the Grinch look like Mother Theresa. Shareholders and Employees were sent to the slaughterhouse for pennies on the dollar with how these two cr--ker jacks conduct business. Vaporizing Shareholder Wealth must have been bred in the C Suite at SBC. Never forget Stankey knows more than Malone, Pfefler, Roberts, Legere.
