Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

This is no longer a place that can attract the best

That is more than obvious. The question is, does Intel even still want to be that company which once tried to attract only the best and most talented people with a lots of ideas, graduates of top notch schools?

Only F rate indians want to work at Intel. It is like bagging a "job" at a New Dehli government license office.

This hasn’t been the case for at least 5 years and possibly more.

Intel is a ‘has-been’ and will not come back.

Put another way, Intel doesn't try to hire the best any longer. The focus is to hire the candidates that check the right boxes that HR wants.

They cannot even keep current top performers. When managers ask for $ to reward them, we hear no budget. But somehow there is enough budget to host party events, just recent one in Brazil to celebrate 30 years or something. Or people travel when the meeting can be done virtually. I cannot express how much waste we have. I hope higher management take action to reduce waste spending.

Their hiring process of Intel is what I despise personally. Looks as if they are not even trying to hire top talents from top schools. People hire whoever they want. Their family members, people from the same community. I literally saw managers who have good relation with recruiters, pretty much setting up to hire their cousins, wives. This is not even a secret anymore. Very common among the Indian and Bangladeshi managers inside the intel. Even Lots of Indians are sick of it. And I'm sure HR knows about this because its happening right in front of them. Maybe they don't want talents anymore. Just people who wants hit their 5 and get the paycheck.

It doesn't matter wether they want to or not. They HAVE to in order to follow their past business model. Spend big, rake in money because you're the best. That's no longer true and they better pivot to one of two models: Design-light or full blown first tier process and foundry capability. Anything else is wasting time/cash/resources before the inevitable. Personally, having witnessed the corrosion within management and operations over the last 20 years, i don't have high hopes for either option. They'll be relegated to IBM status; still a going concern but no longer a major market force.
