The concept is the same for the U.S. Companies would rather have you leave before they lay you off.
Go read about what Better.com is doing with their layoffs. That's what Ford will continue to do.
Singapore is not the US. They dont have At Will employment. Unless someone can be terminated for cause, the employmee is due payment from the employer.
