WSJ: Careful Now...

If Your Quiet Quitting Is Going Well, You Might Be Getting ‘Quiet Fired’
You’ve dialed down the intensity at work, passing on late nights and extra assignments with seemingly no negative consequences. In fact, your boss appears to respect your new boundaries and has lightened your workload.
Careful. Your “quiet quitting” can lead to your “quiet firing”—and eventually your actual firing. And it’s already happening in some companies, human-resources specialists say.

Some people are just jealous of highly skilled individuals. Probably the same people who whine about there being too many billionaires. I admit, I’m a naturally born lazy person. I realized it later on in life when I looked at my parents. It’s definitely hereditary. Though, that doesn’t mean I have to be lazy. I just have to work even harder than others. Like I said earlier, you never know how good you are until you work with other individuals. Hence, it’s sad to see how many uninspiring individuals there are working for WF. I had to slow way down, so they can keep up with me. I’ll be honest, there are some with exceptional skills that I do admire.
So, I’m conflicted between being lazy collecting a paycheck every two weeks or bailing on WF and joining a start up company to awaken my full potential.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the vision the billionaires have. Bills do have to be paid, so I continue to work for this lethargic company and uninspiring teams. Funny thing is, I’m surprised I lasted this long. I might’ve been born lazy, but I was blessed with exceptional sales skills. It’s been really easy to masquerade as an exceptional employee of this company. I’m so good at what I do that I’ve been able to push the envelope many times. Some people hate me and some people admire me. I really don’t care, because I’m always looking forward to my next vacation. Thanks to those Politically far left clowns for promoting employee rights, I discovered that as long I do the bare minimum and brown nose big time, I’ll remain with the company for a very long time. Even my supervisor is an Unmotivated clown.
I guess there’s more truth than fiction in that movie called, “How to succeed in business without really trying.” Too bad I’m too lazy to try and climb the corporate ladder. Then again, I’m happy being far back office. Could be worse, I could be another executive stooge constantly being managed out for lack of productivity or change in political environment.
Anyway, there are times that I feel like I’m being quietly fired, but I’m biting my time and quietly quitting at the same time. What’s the rush? Paycheck comes in every two weeks. Nice fat annual bonus. Comes in annually. Oh, phooey! I wish I wasn’t born with the lazy gene!

Some people seem to have an inflated view of themselves

I could literally work 24/7 If I wanted to. Unfortunately, I run circles around the teams that I work with, Hence, I end up having to wait for them to complete the work I provide them. So, I pull a few rabbits out of the hat once in a while, and bide my time until I get laid off. You know, you never really know how good you are until you begin working with other individuals. Working at WF has it been a real Self-confidence boost.

Nights and weekends are usually required when working in Tech.

"...passing on late nights and extra assignments..."

Late nights? Surely you jest?

If Monday through Friday (8 hours per) isn't enough, then there's usually something wrong with the job, not the person doing it. The need for 'late nights' is a failure of capacity planning on the part of management. The employee should not have to suffer for their boss's failures.

We're not living in some bygone century where late nights in the office makes any sense. People have wised up. Late nights just means a bigger bonus for your boss that's at home drinking while you're burning the midnight oil.

Don't be walked on. Don't work nights, weekends, etc unless that was firmly established up front (certain branch roles, certain IT roles, etc.).

I'll take a layoff any day of the week over knowing that I'll be one of the few rubes working Christmas morning, Friday night, etc. to update a spreadsheet or some other poorly planned task.

It took me 5 years of slowly doing less work to get let go. That's an extra 10 weeks of severance.

If I’m quietly being fired, how come it’s taken several years? I’ve been waiting to get the boot for sometime now. I basically fill my time traveling around the world. I’m guessing that as long as I do my mandatory KODs and other required work, I would be laid off instead of fired. Unfortunately, some think I’m God’s gift to WF. Don’t think they will ever show me the door.
