Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How long will Ford remain an “American” company?

Someone mentioned that most white collared jobs will be shipped to India, Mexico, and China now that remote work is the new norm.

Why would they hire expensive workers from the US when someone from overseas could do it for a fraction of the cost?

Is the “American” brand a thing of the past? How many salaried roles will remain in the US in the near future?

Remember about five years ago when they opened the new service center in India that would hold about 40,000 employees I knew what was coming and it has.

Many jobs are going to Brazil. Do a simple search online and you can see for yourself. Very high number.

There's not a lot of jobs going to Brazil. Ford shut down the manufacturing operations in January of 2021. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/how-ford-burned-12-billion-brazil-2021-05-20/

The majority of the people in IT drive Toyota vehicles whether they are FTE or agency. Can't even get people that work at Ford and receive a paycheck to drive Ford vehicles. Signs in buildings read "If you work for Ford you should drive a Ford." Seems simple enough for me, FTE or not. But that just isn't the reality.

Ford is only an American company when it is convenient for them. Didn’t they say there are 11,000 Ford employees in Chennai? Wonder where your American jobs went?

The problem is the American car buyer. They don't care about any of this as long as they can buy cheap, historically American cars. Take the Maverick. People lining up to buy a small pickup (really a unibody vehicle with a small pickup bed) ~$20k. Made in Mexico? They don't care.

Buy truly American made and things might.... MIGHT...change. Until then? Well, the glass house will stay in Dearborn and fool people into thinking Ford is American! People are so gullible!!

Ford was an American company. It is now a ‘global’ company with global aims. To them America and American workers well-being are of little concern. Ford is part of a global order shaping a very ‘different’ future for you and yours.
