Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Email

People think sending a lot of emails equals work. Reality is 90% of email is garbage. Get rid of all the paper pushers trying to justify their existence with email and conference calls. The further you get from our field organizations the less valuable you become to the company and our customers.

Sorry i disagree. I cc my boss on important email messages. I ain't takin the rap for some IC on a project, just because they can't make the calls. They think they are too important, I've had some hold up projects and miss critical milestones. That's usually when their boss gets contacted by my boss! Next thing you know they are on all project calls.

CC’ing your boss on an email is even worse than the fools that think they need to reply all to every email/text they get.

OP's statement goes double on those id10ts that feel the need to "CC" everyone on the planet about their "important" email. Especially when trying to get a peer to help them with something. Suppose I'm unresponsive, fine! Go ahead and CC the boss. Otherwise, don't come at me with CCs to the boss out of the gate you spineless loser. Grow up a little.

I have multiple outlook rules set up. About 75% of emails coming to me are redirected to the delete box. I never even see them.

These calls include dozens of employees and contractors who get paid for doing nothing.

I'm lucky. I get emails from my female AVP and senior leadership announcing whose wife had a baby, who is getting married, whose kid made the honor roll, made a touchdown, whose spouse got a promotion. These are followed by monthly or quarterly meetings that discuss maybe 5 minutes of busines, then showcases which member of the team has a favorite BBQ dish or casserole dish and then shows how to cook it in their kitchen with online lessons for all to see and take notes. The great part is they even post the recipes!

Almost all of that nonsense goes straight to my junk mail folder, including anything from Sk---y. After we started using the web based Outlook, it became easier to direct all those emails straight to junk instead of having to do it manually.

Only emails from customer matter. The internal emails are bs. Most equate to nothing more than a cya or pushing work to someone else.

I make it a point to send at least 30 emails per day. Don't tell me that it doesn't make me look busy, I know better.
