Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Returning company's property

I hope that this will not happen, but I am slowly preparing myself for the traumatic experience of losing my job. I am interested in whether Ford gives a reasonable amount of time to the laid off employee to return the company property back?

Just make sure you declassify any documents you take home.

As with any company, if they want what I have and I work remotely, they will be sending a box with prepaid shipping label for me to return it. If working in an office, sure, I'll bring it in on my last day. I won't be making any special trips to do so... so if they ditch me unexpectedly they will need to refer to the other method... send me a box and a shipping label if you want it back.

I would assume you have to return all company property to the location from which you are assigned. I retired last year, General Motors, months after claiming full-time residence in Florida. I had to turn in my company property to GM in Warren Michigan, my assigned company location.

I retired May 1st and was required to turn in my car, phone and laptop on my last day.

I suggest everyone start making exit plans now even if you think your safe. Backup “personal” files and bring home all personal effects. I know a lot of people that did this during the 2006-2008 cuts. They were glad they did!

Anything that isn’t required went into the recycle/shredder bin.

Better do get yourself and desk in order when it’s not so stressful.
And if you don’t get terminated at least now you have a nice clean workspace with everything backed up

When I was let go I dropped my management lease vehicle at my local dealership because I live more than 45 miles from Dearborn. I had to make arrangements for this ahead of time.

Wonder how this will work for those of us who have mgmt lease cars but who no longer live in Michigan. Can we just drop them off at the nearest Ford dealer? Hope so, because I ain't driving mine back to Dearborn.

When I was let go during SRD I was given a week to turn in company property including my management lease vehicles. I hear some were walked out immediately and they were asked for Ford property then with the exception of the vehicle. At least they didn’t dump you into the parking lot with no way home. I did hear one story about someone who had to return the vehicle immediately but I don’t know that to be a fact. I don’t know if this varies by org or leadership.

Really. Assume immediately. Phone, computer, car, etc. In the past they have let Management leasees keep their vehicle for a month or so.

Start backing up your contacts an personal information now.
