Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Is anybody still happy at TR?

I was laid off over a year ago. I remember being utterly miserable as I was waiting to see what was going to happen and almost feeling relief when I got the news. Things have improved for me significantly since then, so I can't complain. I'm wondering how things are working out for people still there?

I was laid off last year as well and was also relieved when I got the news. I’m currently making 20k more at my new job with better benefits. I just wanted to let everyone here know there’s life after TR and it can actually be a good one.

What is even more shameful is creating “new positions” which are the same as old/previous positions with just a new title. As well as letting go of those in the previous/old positions to hire them into the new positions for less then what they are/were making in the previous/old role.

Horsehit ain’t it!

It's truly shameful that any company would offer its employees a promotion with just a change in title and without a corresponding increase in remuneration to go with the promotion. It begs the question how many senior managers would accept the same deal if it was offered to them?

Misery flows down because the leadership is corrupt. These are people who strived for the position instead of the character that would make them worthy of the position.

Re promotions without any rise in salary: there will always be a misguided element in any company who will accept a promotion without any rise in salary. Unfortunately, they are unable to see that it has a detrimental effect in producing a degradation of employee rights that many employees have fought hard for over the years.

Lea had nothing to do with deleting cases. Why you have an axe to grind with her?

They're doing promotions without corresponding raises now?

Pathetic.

Why would you take a promotion without a salary increase? The only benefit I see is to make it easier to get a better job elsewhere.

Promotions with no salary increases seem to be the norm.

Anybody else getting promoted with no salary increases?

Don't worry, you are not the only one doing the bare minimum. VP's Lea Harpster and Collections VP Kevin Rodia are following suit.

Lea still hasn't apologized to customers for deleting their cases, and Kevin mass blasts suspension emails to customers in good standing.

It’s a sinking ship. How much of a salary increase did you get at your new company?

I’m sure there are people happy. Rather unaware of the churn and burn that happens here. They are just too new.

As for me, I’m in the same boat as some of the other commenters. I do just enough to get by. I’m not over achieving at all. I get the same bonus/end of year raise regardless. There is zero incentive to put in the extra effort.

The company is 100% trying to reduce headcount. It’s the only way the increase their margins.

So if the company is actively working on eliminating my role no need to be a try hard.

I do as little work as possible to avoid being fired, knowing at any time my job will move to a lower cost location, at which time I will get 12 months of paid severance and can then find a new employer that actually wants and appreciates my skill set.

I’m exhausted by the nonsense. But my work life balance is great and benefits are still good. So I can be on auto pilot all day and then not think about it when I’m done. That works for me for now.

People can forget a lot but they never forget the way they made you feel.

Short answer is no.

Nobody is happy. Morale is at all time low and despite interventions this leadership can’t get it back up.
