I keep hearing attrition is high. It seems like in order to compete and get better candidates to hire, they will eventually have to give in on this silly hybrid model and allow WFH 5 days in many areas (not just IT). Who wants to bet on how soon this happens?

I haven’t heard anything about this in CIB COO. Has anyone else? Most of the teams I know can’t even get their people to come back 3 days per week.

What does “CIB COO” stand for?

I see someone mentioned that there will be in office requirements (5 days) for CIB COO, but what other LOB’s are hearing this? As we’ve seen, not all business lines are demanding RTO the same, incredibly inconsistent. So curious who’s saying what and in what business. Thanks!

We have been told that we're going back to "all work in the office and no more WFH" some time in September.

Let's see, there is a critical event the first Tuesday in November. It will decide your future. To ensure it is the correct future yes, you may be WFH starting in September for yet another lockdown. How did you like it the first time? Did you like the outcome?
Be careful of what you ask for....you just might get it :-)

"That WHAT will be in Sep?"

I have the same question. People seem to keep confusing WFH with RTO. Y'all. Seriously. 🙄

Good luck with trying to get people in the office 5 days a week. I count the people in our 70 cubicle space every day I go in. We hit a record low of 4-5 people Mon-Wed. They can say whatever they like- the trends are in the opposite direction.

I love when management says "My directs"

F off saying such power trip things.

There is pressure to bring people back to the office 5 days a week. The thinking is that "Covid is here to stay and since everyone's going to catch it anyway we're not going to delay decisions based on that".

I don't agree with that, but that's the mindset. The people with the kinds of personalities that gravitate towards management positions have a deep psychological need to physically see the people that they are "over".

Under the current leadership, I’d say the chances of swinging to 5 days in office is better than full remote, in the short term (barring the pandemic getting really bad again in a way it hasn’t been in over a year). It’s the kind of major decision that leadership isn’t going to want to admit they were wrong on unless it becomes necessary to save their jobs. And while I think the bank would be better off with at least some jobs having a full remote option, I’m not sure it’s a big enough X factor that it would ever make or break the stock price. If Charlie and Co were to leave or be ousted then maybe the new leadership would start offering full remote because it could be presented as a way they were “shaking things up.” Or if Charlie stays here for the long haul maybe he’ll gradually start caving if it starts to become more standard across the industry. But as of now I don’t see him backing down when JPM, BoA, etc are all doing the exact same thing.
