Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The Re-Org the has no logic...untill the house gets cleaned

There are little signs that a major re-org is coming... VPSP got a new org chart...

What pains me is the amount of time going into this effort when they know a lot of key people are going to step out by the end of the year. I saw a recent org chart and there are 3 or 4 LLs on there that for sure are stepping down. These folks are not immune to the decrease in the lump sum come Jan1.

Just get on with the voluntary retirements and see who is staying around.

There is a good chance your best young engineers will find work somewhere else if they are playing a waiting game.

How do Hau and Feddy get to step down and probably get a sweet deal when the rest of us just linger in purgatory waiting for a decision? My only option is to work right till the last moment an then grab n go with my lump sum.

The lawyers will eat Ford alive if they do some illogical employee reduction plan.

People are making statements to the effect that actual pension choices:forms must be in their hands by a certain date etc…
Are they specifically speaking about actual forms that require a signature or spouse signature?
Currently I am not married and myself by just initiating the pension process online was very clean and straightforward -no copies to print nothing to sign for myself and at the end I got a confirmation number and NESC sent me a text stating there would be a forthcoming pension payment date they would supply me with…

NESC recommended to file as soon as you know your departure date. Last day to lock in Aug 2021 int rates will be to commence your pension benefit Dec 1. Commencing pension benefit after that will be subject to new higher rates. Figure for every one point increase in interest rates equates to roughly a 10% drop in lump sum. I did not want to mess around I initiated the pension process and I am letting the cards fall where they may -packages or not. And yes once you initiate the pension process management and HR immediately apprised. NESC also stated that if packages are offered at some point, people may take the package offer even if they had already initiated the pension process.

NESC convinced me I needed to retire in September to ensure the lump sum would be paid with Aug 2021 rates. The truth is you can push it to Nov 30 as long as your pension choices form is in their hands 5 business days prior. I agree things might get a little busy at NESC so I might get that paperwork in their hands early November.

You can't "grab and go" around a lump sum as you're describing it. You have to file at least 30 days with the NESC at which time your supervisor is immediately notified. In fact they will probably expand this to 45 or 60, given the volumes they'll be processing this year.

Since the F2000 debacle we seem to go into a re-org every 12-18 months. That was over 25 years ago.

The whole point is to broom older LLs or make it so they want to leave on their own. This makes room for more promotions of friends, family, favorites / flavors of the month demographics.
There are so many LL whining about how unfair it is that Hau got a sweet package to ride off into the sunset while they get nothing. Too bad, so sad for the LL. They have been gaming the system for years and have already been richly compensated.
