I'm not sure where the August 12 rumor originated, but it's not happening. We've never had layoffs on a Friday. In general, layoffs don't happen on a Monday either (for the most part). When it's time, expect to see it take place in the middle of the week, like always. And please stop spreading false dates.

Layoffs definitely happen on a Friday. I was one of the 400+ agency that was laid off on the Friday of 4th of July weekend.
Usually the lazy HRs and LowLifes may be drunk on fridays hence its assumed not fridays
There will be 815 people separated on Monday, 8/15 at 8:15AM according to a drunken LL3 at the bar because Her Numerologist (also her lover) suggested she handle it that way. This is the new 'science' of people (oh - I mean 'resource') management.

Ford has done stealth FTE cuts on Fridays
Some in marketing and sales have already been told they are done Sep 1. The rest of marketing and sales is on high alert for an early September notification of status
