Thread regarding Ford layoffs

A fully involuntary plan will miss some people

There are people who are not taking the lump sum that aren't concerned about the interest rate bump and would be happy to take a lump sum and move on. I get that there is huge incentive for lump sum folks to leave regardless. That is a bonus to Ford for those people to leave and not have to pay them. If it is truly an numbers game to get salaried costs down, a hybrid plan would be optimal. A short voluntary window to get those wanting to go out regardless of lump sum or not, and then execute the list of involuntary axing's. Yes, a bit more complicated, but it gets rid of anyone who wants to go but it is willing to hang on for another few years if no lump sum is paid. Just a thought....and maybe I am in this situation and am hoping :-).

It is too late to roll out a voluntary program. Besides, the alleged goal is to eliminate unneeded jobs, not higher paid people.

The voluntaries last year were decided without the knowledge that Farley has declared war on the lower class (in his mind) that inhabits Ford Blue. More people are motivated now that Farley has so succinctly laid out his master plan.

We had a voluntary program last year. Voluntary programs are usually followed by involuntary separations.

I have heard there will be no voluntary packages offered. We'll see!

I will be shocked if the unicorn plan does what it needs to do.

Too many LLs protecting their kingdoms with lots of worker bees..

Just think if you had an HR person that you could actually talk to... Who could schedule meetings to get a pulse of the workforce. Maybe at your 25 and 30 year milestones you need to submit a retirement plan. Of course there would be some compensation for showing your plans. They have created their own problem by doing these packages each year and it will be hard to wean us off the Ford Teet.
