Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Negative effects of downsizing?

I'm trying to imagine what Ford will look like after these layoffs. What do you think? I survived the 2019 layoffs even though I thought I would definitely be cut. I would say that after every round of layoffs it gets worse here.

@3pgv+1iephpGa my LL is currently vacationing in the Caymans, does not give a care about what is happening to us. The management ranks at Ford do not care about your hardships, or your family, as long as they get their bonus and vacation trips.

Wonder if the desired end state is to eliminate ALL US based positions from. LL6 and below, ship overseas, and use LL5 and above to manage them. Funny how the cuts are only happening at these levels. If that's the case, good luck, because these LL4+ are the ones who got us into this mess. Lower levels are only executing their plan.

Question...what will Ford look like after these cuts?
Answer...a company that will send all CAD work (and possibly engineering) to Mexico or India or to suppliers.
Wake up people!!! The handwriting is on the wall.
Why are they redoing a campus in Dearborn that will house 1/2 the amount of people they had 5 years ago? Because they are id--ts. How many people could have been saved if they did not buy the train station?

It will look like the final scene in Infinity War after Thanos snaps his fingers. Good luck to the Avengers who survive.

After 2019 why you still at FORD are you learning anything new ?
Writing papers?
Filing patents?

  1. 5 years at Ford were the worse part of my career.

Guys please move on.
You can learn!
you are the engineer!
These MBAs don't know sh-t!
I remember one Ford IT manager was telling me car runs on one wheel drive!
go to a competitive and put Ford out of business!
Every time my Manger says we got more market share from Ford I think they let me go so I am taking their customers in my new job fair and square.
I think if Ford keep some smart people it's cheaper to send them to competition!
I am a living example!
Ford CEO ... coming for F 150 ICE and BEV

I have a degree in organizational development and during my studies we had to do case studies on companies that downsize. If there truly are too many people, not enough work and the company is having financial difficulty it can help. But… while a company is planning their cuts that becomes their “product” as it becomes management’s focus. Those not in management stress and fret which is a distraction from their work. Quality and deadlines suffer as everyone’s focus is elsewhere. During this process communication is key as workers need to understand what is happening, why it must happen and when it will happen. Afterward people are traumatized by what has happened in addition to increased workload.

It can save a company that’s in trouble if it’s a rare occurrence. If a company does this repeatedly it’s the kiss of death because so much time is spent with the focus shifted from their primary product. Deadlines and quality suffer. Moral plummets. It’s basically admitting that management sees a problem that they don’t understand and are clueless about how to resolve it so they go after something they think will give them a quick fix.

I’m a worker and understand this. It’s very concerning that leadership doesn’t understand this and isn’t humble enough to hire consultants who understand.

There will be a major brain drain and those who are left will be in a world of hurt.

Recalls will skyrocket. Guaranteed. Another poster mentioned in this site that a D&R needs to be at the plant to test/troubleshoot his or her parts.

How is that going to be conducted? Engineers gets texts routinely to head to the prototype building to troubleshoot. Program management wants engineers to resolve issues within 48 hours; then 24 hours as the build progesses. Who will provide the concern to close the aims? Today? It needs to be done today.
Good luck with that.
