Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Will it be a standard LR or contain some surprises or Corpcomm BS gems?

Maybe a tearful video message from CR as some other clown did regarding his layoffs on LinkedIn last week....

There won't be any voluntary program. Literally every top performer (that's roughly 1000 people in the company) would take it, leaving an irreparable ho-e in the hull of the titanic.

They learned from the ER they offered back in 2011 to put limits/restrictions of who's eligible because so much great talent left in the first ER. Then again, a bunch of older managers who had hardly been w/ Cisco took the offer and ran w/ it.

I recall talking w/ a guy in his mid-to-late 30's who got LR'd after the ER and he was pi---d off. He had 15+ yrs with the company and was a direct college hire, so he'd never worked anywhere but Cisco. He wasn't eligible for the ER due to not being old enough, but his new manager who had 18 mo w/ Cisco was already 55 and had a yr with Cisco, so the "age plus years of service greater than 60" calculation meant his boss got double the severance package that he got.

At that same time, I don't recall what my boss's boss's title was, but he had pushed and pushed to get promoted to Director (or maybe Sr Director) and he finally got the promotion just before they announced the ER. I'm betting they finally gave it to him to entice him not to take the ER, but he took it anyways. I think they forced him to stay 1 or 2 extra quarters after the ER separation date to give the BU time to hand off the leadership as I know he was still around after the LR date in early Aug and everyone was suddenly surprised when he suddenly said he was leaving (due to taking the ER) months after all the ER eligible folks were gone.

This past ER, they didn't let any one take the package who had IPF's above 1.5, or now what they call 150% IPF's. Either a lot of people I knew were old enough, with plenty of years of service, had IPF's that prevented them from taking the package, or they just didn't choose to leave. I can't imagine how or why my entire leadership chain of command had 20-25 yrs of service, were 50 or older, and didn't take it. They either had above 150% IPF's or were 48-49 and just look older than 50 I guess. But I expected the entire chain of command to leave.

If you are getting the dreaded "15 min invites", which I expect will all be done prior to IMPACT, please specify the group/BE/area you are with.
Thank you, God Speed, and BRACE FOR IMPACT.

@vyf+1if06OWE if the bozos in the elt were worried about that why do they keep doing ERs?

CR never she’d a year over it. JC pretended too but they are so routine now CR barely acknowledges them.
