They brought in someone from HR who specializes in "organization structure" to help us better align our skills with the right departments. Doesn't that sound like " The Bob's" from Office Space? I feel like this is a sign of layoffs.

A month after the BOBs showed up in 2020 I was let go. Their only purpose is to cut staff.

Expect your job description to change and more work to be coming your way. They are trying to get more work out of a reduced headcount.
Bob: “What would you say ya do here?”
Tom: “I deal with the g0dd@m customers so the engineers don’t have to! I have people skills! I am good at dealing with people! Can’t you understand that? What the he-l is wrong with you people?”
