You never turn down free money. Just ask Hans. He planned his riff package before he even signed the contract. Truly visionary.

I’m disappointed in myself for being stupid enough to stay. Why did I not take VSP?

This ship has no valid rudder.

we had an open spot years ago and they filled it internally with someone who had rwady “shadow quit” waiting for a RIF. I think wfh is hiding it from many people where it would spread more easily in person.

It should have been me.

3 people on my team already shadow quit (they rarely show up to do anything and give it the least effort). they were very vocal they were just waiting to get laid off. 2 on my team are over achievers who bled v red and kept things running.

guess who was riffed and who who still has a job

Me. I was kind of hoping they'd pick me.

Quit. Stop looking for a handout and make your own destiny.

They won’t just lay you off because that will mean they’ll lose headcount and headcount protects them. Of course if they have been told to lay someone off and know you want to go maybe they’ll pick you or maybe they’ll pick somome else and pile all the work on you and hope you quit.

then ask your manager or HR to lay you off. Your problem solved.
