Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

This will not stop at mortgage

If you think you're safe because layoffs will be focused on mortgage in the near future, think again. While it might be the main focus, mortgage will be far from the only area hit. We know the goal is to cut anything that can be cut, that's Charlie's way of doing things. Mortgage might be the start of it, but it certainly won't be the end.

You'll be surprised at how few employees in mortgage will be truly laid off. Some will be moved to other jobs in the same umbrella, others will be let go. The real layoff percentages will be much higher in other groups. You might even see a whole LOB get sold off in the next few months. It will be spun as a positive thing, but it's more of a necessary thing.

Mortgage wasn't the start, if anything they are one of the things being cut last. There's been layoffs in other groups for two solid years prior to mortgage demand tanking.

Anything risk related is open season too. I work in call monitoring in Auto Finance and it’s a joke. Most of it can be done with automated resources or In Manila. They prefer to make us miserable in the short term to manage us out as opposed to paying us severance. Charlie’s 20% pay increase had to be paid for with something. Why not pay for it with suffering?
