Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

COBI-Exhausted and underpaid

I’ve been with the company for almost 20 years. I thought I would retire here. I am a five on my reviews. With cost of living increasing and other employers paying more I interviewed and was offered a job with Aetna today. Someone mentioned raises early this year but we haven’t seen them. Am I about to walk out right before they start paying more?

I am a newer employee at UHG and am actively interviewing with other Payors as I am disappointed nothing has been done to life staff up during the pandemic. Competitors are offering bonuses or increases of at least that of inflation to ensure staff are keeping the same standard of living- not a peep here. Not one leader has asked what can be done to help or pressed the issue from my experience.

Take the job. Only way to increase your pay is via promotion at UHG. If your not being promoted you're going backwards. 9% inflation > 2% merit

Walk, you won’t regret it. Ask any colleague you can find on LinkedIn who has left, all have realized how severely underpaid and under appreciated they have been and how the grass truly is greener.

Cost of living analysis?? B S##T! They offered retention bonuses to some people because of the mass exedous in some areas and as an incentive to some to get vaccinated.

Cost of living analysis was completed earlier this year, with those being awarded increases in mid-July. Sounds like you were not identified as one to receive an increase.

Take the job if it's a nice bump. But Aetna, centered, humana are not any better once your there. Check out their boards. Their all the same.

I worked there for years as a director. I know how it works…. The workers 28 and below will get their up to 2% merit. You may get up to a 5K bonus. Most will see 500 or less. 29’s will get more. 30’s will get a bigger merit and up to a 35K bonus. Senior Directors…. Double that Plus they receive stock options worth millions of dollars once they leave

Read back years on here. They never have paid and never will. All about the stock price off the backs of employees and insured lives.

We’re you offered more money at Aetna? This company will never pay out. They don’t care about us. They’ve proven that time and time again.

It takes several months to prepare for MAP reviews that yield a 1% increase. Congratulations on the new job!
