Thread regarding Ford layoffs

You shouldn't be doing this to yourself

So many posts from people who are destroying their health by stressing over layoffs 24/7. You shouldn't be doing that to yourself. There are plenty of things you can do to prepare in case your name is on the list. That's where I've been pouring my energy into. I've been working on things I can change and making sure all my ducks are in a row. That's all any of us can do. As far as layoffs are concerned, there's nothing I can do about it so I'm not going to spend my time stressing and worrying about it. I'm prepared and that's enough.

To think that politics can be separated from the events of the day that are affecting our livelihoods, particularly within a large global company is just naïve.

Anyone offended by the mention of politics as it relates to its intersection with cut-throat corporate global business, should go back to coloring books and crayons.

Wake up.

Definitely easier said than done. People should take this opportunity to examine why this is all happening in the first place. So many people look at wanting America first policies in this country as evil, racist or whatever. The "globalization" policies that drive off-shoring jobs and moving away from having real industry and capabilities that take care of the USA has consequences. And the automotive industry has been hammered by this for a few decades. It was OK for us salaried folks when UAW jobs were moved to Mexico. But then the salaried jobs started moving to India and Mexico the realities came home to roost. Having grown up in a town where there was a large automotive OEM plant I saw first hand when I was younger the impact of closing a large plant and how it affected the community and my own family. It is not evil to want American prosperity. A strong America can be a stronger world ambassador. Vote out your representatives in government that are he-l bent of globalization at the cost of American jobs. If you blindly vote along party lines it's time to re-think what you are doing. Stop listening to narrative spewing news and try putting time into understanding the issues and increase your voting IQ. Think about what is happening in your own work life and what you want for your kids and grandkids. It's really sad what is becoming of this once great nation and sadly this once great company.

Every day we don't know anything is another day to prepare. And help/check on your good coworkers to see if they need help too. If management doesn't care about us, at least we can look out for each other. I've been helping coworkers with resumes and updating their LinkedIn profiles to get ready to hit the pavement for whatever happens. Updated all my stuff a few weeks ago, and really been hitting the pavement finishing up some certifications I've been studying for.

It's fight or flight, don't let yourself get paralyzed by doomscrolling this board all day. You're in charge, take the bull by the horns and prepare now while you have time. It may sound like I'm being dramatic, but would you rather be prepared and ready to start making calls or be a deer in the headlights? I just want to see everyone who doesn't deserve what's coming to land in a better place. I know we talk and bemoan the slackers and deadwood a lot, but there are a ton of folks I've had the pleasure of working with over the past several years who are dedicated, hard working employees, and have sacrificed a lot for this company. I think that's the part that sickens me the most about all this is watching them be physically stressed to the point of feeling ill because they have to be hostage to the whims of id--ts.

Its easier said than done. Its not only about a paycheck .There have been people who have put their soul , energy and precious YEARS of their lifespan into this company, into their families, into the communities they belong to .To go stress-free its just not possible.

After 2008 I swore I was never going to be that stressful again. I am prepared either way.
Those of you who make it through, prepare yourselffor the next round in a few years.

The damage is being done - acceptance is required.
NA salaried employees will play a lesser role in the company’s future plans. It isn’t only Ford. Look at the country.
Take care of yourselves, find peace, and chart a new course for your future.
God bless you all.
