Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Honeywell is great…

A great place to be under appreciated, underpaid, given a measly 2k bonus to then be taken away because of “COVID”. Even better, you can work in a empty cubicle farm while waiting to get your garbage vestment. And many pride themselves with the great Honeywell reputation but that died many years ago, just lingering thoughts of hope people can’t let go of. I left for a company that pays market value (double my salary), work from home, and I have solid work relationships. Not sad old people that are just grumpy as-----s who have been only with Honeywell since the dawn of the fu----g dinosaurs. Oh and don’t worry you won’t be laid off! The turn over rate is operating at break neck speeds. But we need Honeywell around to be a great example of what not to be as an organization so people can identify and learn. Keep up the great work!

I'm just here coasting, waiting for a 6 month severance freebie. Minimal effort. Head down. Correct any pip issues above and beyond to make it impossible to fire. 🤣

It's also called retiring in place. I did something similar to that right after I had worked a lot of 50+ hour weeks and had travelled thousands of miles to support RevCogs programs for the year. In my review, my boss told me that I was known as a "40-hour per week kind of guy" and didn't get a raise. It was the second time in a review that I had heard that lie. I knew then that Honeywell spouting its sewage about rewarding "performance cultrure" was just another virtue signalling load of steaming bs. I decided that if I was going to be rated a 5 when I was busting my a$$, then a 5 rated performance was the only thing Honeywell deserved. Adjusted for inflation, I was making $2,200/year more at Honeywell than when I started ten years earlier. Fast forward a few years and I've found a better opportunity.

HW is not great and it doesn't take long to realize it. I was layed off at the beginning of the pandemic after 13yrs and it was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. My son is a senior in Computer Engineering and he landed an internship at HW this past summer, I kept my mouth shut and thought to myself, I'm going to let him learn his lesson earlier in his career than I did. His boss strung him along the entire summer internship saying, we will be making you an offer effective after graduation and you can work throughout your final year. We'll, final day arrives and now the boss said they can not make him an offer. They got what they needed from him as a high performing student. It's clear what happened, HR got involved as they always do and tie the hands of the leader, they went as far to hire someone that did not even finish her project, but hey, it checked the diversity box in many ways, nothing against hiring diversity, but not at the cost of top talent. This sums up HW and I'm afraid to say I was right, HW always ceases to not impress.

I am finding that Honeywell is great for quite quiting. Just do enough to get through the day and you are a hero. There is so much of this going around it's not even funny. I no longer even feel like I need to defend my employer in front of a hostile customer. I just nod my head and agree with them.
Really sad.
