Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What does 5G mean to you?

I'm beginning to think that 5G represents the future valuation of Verizon.

You forgot join an ERG even if it is the ERG that just supports other ERGs.

5g isn't important. What is important, is your volunteer hours, the number of comments you make on VZWeb articles, and the quarterly Pulse survey.

5G is where Verizon arrogance finally caught up with them. They thought they simply would be the best since they had the best 4G. While Lowell mocked, T-Mobile made smart decisions, bought key spectrum and made customer friendly decisions. Verizon's response...we're the premium wireless provider so you must pay us more. Now, with sh**y customer service and a worse 5G network, they wonder why customers are fleeing and employees are hoping for a buyout package.

5G means to me, one of the biggest farces ever perpetrated.

I took the 2018 voluntary buyout and VZ had been spouting off about how beneficial 5G will be for society. VZ stated something similar to 5G will allow a Dr. located in the U.S. to perform robotic surgery in another country. Sounds fantastic, then they roll out something that would not even penatrate a window.

And lets not forget that VZ was first to provide 5G and how proud they were while patting themselves on the back. Oh, but how does VZ roll out 5G when the world governing body (WGSM) had not even set the 5G standards.

This is an example of the VZ mindset, lets spend hundreds of millions of dollars to be the first, yet never admit they were wrong and misleading.

New hires had to attend a 2 day introductory session to VZ, where during the session they were told about multiple acquisitions. I informed any new hire on my Team to discuss with me following the session where I informed of each acquisition, how VZ f'd it up and divested at a loss.

My apologies for the off topic comments.

Even if allowed I would never return to work for VZ. Never realized how terrible the culture was until I left and started to work elsewhere.

Ensure you take everything that is offered, milk it until it is dry, you cannot change the lack of positive executive attributes and never allow it to impact you mental status or become a huge part of your life. We are all just a number on a spreadsheet during rif times.

Finally finished and had 28 years with VZ

Good luck.

5G was always really just a dream that was more appropriate for Venture capital investors rather than Verizon investors. The current regime has reduced the fortnes of investors by at least a third during their tenure.

Moving forward, 5g, and Verizon's failures:
a.) find a suitable partner, not having wireless exposure;
b.) find a suitable partner, to explore streaming, dtc, digital to consumer;
c.) find a suitable partner, to exploit, digital advertising; and
d.) create an equity and strategic partnership, with Apollo Global Management, to create shareholder value, as 90% of the VZ Yahoo assets, were sold to Apollo, at a deep discount, harvesting a tax loss.

What Verizon's 5g defines for me?

  1. ) continually displacing wireline, net result, immediately, expunge the two largest unions;
  2. ) reduce costs, by accretive efficiencies;
  3. ) reduce customers' pricing, to be more competitive; and
  4. ) corporate image, enhance and create a better image.

Well according to the ad I just saw from eriksin “In a proof of concept, we used 5G and edge to cut the cords on today's VR experiences. The result — A paved way for tomorrow's immersive experiences.”
So tommorow. 5G isn’t going to be today fir a long time.

Arbitrage opportunity for other wireless providers knowing full well we have suboptimal service until full rollout leaving us weak and broke. I would be short city if I didn't work for the company

5G is supposed to be the product they’re rolling out across the country to provide broadband in areas where wireline has no footprint. Not really sure how they’re making out with that, stock price tells me not too good.

It does not mean a thing but death trap at this point. Over paid under used and VZ getting it A_ _ kick! King of like that past purchases. Management and board how no clue what VZ is and was previously. One a leader now a follower except leading to the bottom. Once a proud company!!

But don’t forget to do the pulse survey! Along with Motivational Monday, Taco Tuesday and so on. You get the idea that business plan seems 2nd or 3rd interest. Go woke go broke is proving to be correct.

It has taken way too long and has cost way too much to roll out. It will be antiquated before it’s completed. Competition is too strong Verizon will never have the pricing power to recoup its investment. Wall Street has declared T- Mobile the winner, Verizon I’m afraid is in a slow death spiral.

Gloriously. Godawful. Glaring. Gallivanting. Grumpy.

Verizon’s “strategy” has failed.

It means 50 year old executives in skinny jeans and t-shirts (why do our executives dress down more then our sales reps?) It means European values in New Jersey. It means social justice. It means a 41 dollar stock price. It is the future.

What does 5G mean to me? Looking back on the stories we were told, the videos they shot & shared, the promises they made, it was all just FICTION THEY WROTE. A lot of that stuff seems like science fiction, even today. All of those things were like stories that parents tell their kids before Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy come. We were all starry eyed and stupid. Now, we look back with adult eyes and ears and we shake our heads. To pay for all of that FICTION, we have lost market share, customer focus, public trust, and oceans and oceans of talented coworkers either to reductions in work force or them leaving on their own and getting out while they could. As the board continues to sit by and do NOTHING with the out of touch "leaders" they have placed at the top of our food chain. Tmobile is kicking VZ a-s on a daily basis as these "leaders" just sit by and pick numbers for the next RIF lottery of the little guys and it is those little guys that truly get the daily business done. This is how a large corporation implodes. WAKE UP, BOARD OF DIRECTORS! FOR GOD'S SAKE, WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!

5 Guys Handcrafted Burgers and Fries.

Hey Rima Qureshi. This is our new business model:

Five Guys founder Jerry Murrell's mother always told him, "If you can give a good haircut or if you can serve a good drink at a bar or if you can serve a good hamburger, you can always make money in America."

Hans, Let's buy them out.

Diego and the Verizon Creative Marketing Group Award Winning Slogan:

Let's cruise for 5G burgers!
