I’m not sure I buy the whole “RTO is for forced attrition” angle anymore. Because other banks that presumably are already at the revenue/payroll ratio we’re supposedly trying to get to are largely in 3 days a week as well. I think it’s more the “save the commercial real estate industry” angle people have discussed, with a smattering of group-think among all the banking C-Suites that are largely old-fashioned and have a tendency to constantly follow each-other’s lead.

WFH was always supposed to be a temporary solution to a temporary problem. Now everyone is acting like they didn’t sign up for an office job in the first place.

I know some here didn’t, but for the most part WFH was a way to keep things going while protecting people’s health. Too bad people got used to it.

Well, it's not surprising for a company who's only innovation in the last 6 years is "a faster processor and a better camera".

Therein lies one of the problems. Many proponents of working in the office are referring to this as "Return to Work". The implication being that if you're not sitting in a chair within sight of your manager that somehow you are not "working".

It's a fundamental difference in mindset between those who like working in an office environment, versus those who work better outside of an office environment.

Can't justify billion-dollar campuses without people to populate them.

I think it is funny all of these tech companies that pushed WFH in the first place are reversing course. I guess they didn’t fully think things through.
