@OP. If you are let go at the beginning of your career, you can recover very fast. Not so much when you are in the range for age discrimination.
I worked for many companies before landing a job at FMC. I was not going to stay long here, but at one point I thought about retiring in this company. Of course, in the SRD of 2019 I knew that wasn't the case. I am not expecting to last much longer here, but every day I work, it is another contribution to my retirement.

Getting laid off from Ford is the best thing that can happen to a Ford employee. It may not feel like it now, but when you look back on this you will most likely agree. I was let go almost 15 years ago and now my career, life experiences and net worth are far greater than they would be had I stayed. Even if I had made it to now with my lower quality of life, I probably would be getting fired today. Ford is a third rate company on its best day!
