Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Think it may be you - save your personal folders

Cuts happen and if it’s you, don’t expect time to transition in process projects or even securing anything from your personal folders. You will be de-activated from the system quickly. If you have pictures, notes from colleagues, or anything of personal nature that you wish to save - do it now!

Very simple. You can transfer data over remote desktop programs such as Anydesk or Teamcenter. No install needed to run programs. Get a backup computer, install software. Use program on ford machine without install. Remote into your machine. Drag and drop your files to backup.

Be very selective. Either print or take snap shots with your phone. No emails with company info. Email only personal info. Use text. Dont save a bunch of cr-p. You aren’t going to use it anyway.

Things may be different now. In 2019 was able to go into the recently delivered software list and select to recover to previous state. Then saved off files.

Read carefully every document you ever signed - you don't want to land in prison for a couple of lousy files. Everything on a company computer belongs to the company, don't be stupid now.

External storage devices are disabled in the BIOS and you'll find that you need a friend who knows the password needed to open it so that you can change anything. And if you can do that you can just enable storage devices, move stuff over, and then disable it again.

Besides, restaging company hardware with a new Windows install would open you up for various repurcussions. Probably "up to and including termination" :-P

Save your stuff including emails to a folder on your hard drive in a location that won’t get wiped. Then wipe the Ford software and reinstall windows from scratch. Insert USB copy your folder. Ask a tech savvy friend to assist. When you are done wipe all your files.

Need to be clever I suppose, unfortunately I don't have any good suggestions. Remember that the company has security experts on board whose job it is (perhaps to be past tense this week) to prevent exfiltration of data from the companies network and devices.
