Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

No hiring in USA with continued attention planned

If you haven't caught on to what the unadvertised company plan is let me point it out.

  • insufficient hiring in USA to meet required staffing levels
  • continued intentional employee attrition and reductions through assessment process and uncompetitive pay and benefits
  • hiring at BTC
  • mid year raises at BTC

One new hire at emhc was supposed to take an on-board ing class in English. They said there weren't enough people in the class and it had to be canceled. The other classes in foreign languages were full. So lots of hiring in other countries but not the USA. Lots of hiring in India, China, far east,and south America. This is the future of low cost centers and increased use of lower cost contractors in the US.

@OP They’re hiring where people actually do stuff (ex. Baytown).

What they’re not doing is pandering to disgruntled senior employees with a massively inflated sense of their value to the company.

Most of you haven’t learned anything new or done anything differently for the better part of the past decade. Want to know why the industry is in decline? Look in the mirror (you know, the shiny thing next to where you keep all of your prescription meds).

BTC have handled the transition very well as well as demonstrated good quality of work. We want more of that. They deserve a good raise too.
