WFH: How often?

I recently relocated back to Houston campus. Someone help me out - how often are people working from home? What happens if we don't show up? It seems to vary drastically so much. Some people do whatever they want and other groups are there daily? Thx.

The Crystal Palace, Tillersen's Tombstone, where the sociopaths and a-s kissers rule, is the only place to be.

Or you could go, "where the fish are", to great Mexico. Where you you will be kidnapped, ra--d and/or mu---red.

Or you could go to Columbia where the new Presidente, a FARC alumni, just legalized the cultivation and possession of co----e.

Or you could go to Argentina, where the inflation rate is 80%+, and there is civil unrest.

Or you could go to India if you want your engineering job back.

How about Europe, where inflation is 30% to 100%, and cold showers in the morning to ensure your awake and ready for the day.

Or the China petrochemical JV plant, where you will have to shelter in place, once our CEO abandons the plant just as he did in Russia, due to Western sanctions imposed upon China following the Chinese invasion of Taiwan. Coming soon to you in October, as the Tawain Straits waters are at their calmest of the year.

All of the above sites except Tillersen's Tombstone have office trash cans, you are not required to use the hand rail, however sidearms and an exit plan are strongly recommended.

If you were at any other modern day employer that can retain talent, you wouldn’t be having to ask this.

Do your job well and EM can deal. You’re an adult.

4 days per week. They don’t pay me enough to do anything beyond my basic work which I can do from home. Seems fair.

At manufacturing sites, it’s once a week max. No one makes a fuss, but it’s harder to support your site when you’re at home. Lots of “see and be seen” or “out of site, out of mind” (pun intended) perspectives that build over time of you constantly WFH.

@erf+1imDVPP2 I'm with you, but it is for those reasons that I work as much as possible from home, it's just about the only compensation for the inequality in the company. WFH is my preference and so that's what I do.

Who cares! Wages are stagnant while the corp reaps historic profits. Executive pay is astronomical (DW received a 51% bump+$3M bonus +loads of RSUs) while they continue to PIP us and outsource our jobs. The list goes on. But you’re concerned with WFH. Id--t!

I’ve had three job changes in the past year. In every case, my supervisor let me work from wherever. Not that they told me that directly, just didn’t make a fuss if I was at home 75% of the time. I bet if I asked them, they would have parroted the company line about returning to the office.

That all being said, I’ve been going in almost every day for the past few months. It’s better for my mental and physical health to be out somewhere around people rather than sitting on my a-s at home all day. That’s just me though, adults can make their own decisions

Depends on your supervisor. Most just let people do what they want. Tell yours up front your plans. No big deal

It depends on your department and your boss and you. In general, if you are in an office, the unspoken rule is that you show up most of the time.

If you are concerned about your job, you may want to be in person more often than not just to have some visibility. Out of sight is out of mind.

Depends on you. Some supervisors don't have the ba--s to make a fuss about some groups of people not showing up to work. And they like to harass others. It's up to you buddy.
