Thread regarding Ford layoffs

"No Re-employment" by Ford

Part of the SIRP (salaried involuntary reduction program) includes a section that states that we can never be employed by Ford again. Any thoughts regarding why that caveat is in there? I'm assuming it's some protection for the company but I'm not sure why...

That statement was also in my 2019 SRD paperwork. I chalk it up to the OGC's fine print contribution to HRs separation paperwork. And anyway, if they really want you to come back, they'll ignore the policy and hire you again (but you will be a new hire - they won't reinstate your original service start date). So I must ask -- if the company wanted me to stay, why did they SRD me in the first place? Which begs the question, why would I want to work for them now? No thank you.

I had tge same clause in my GM 2019 layoff paperwork. They hired some ppl back. They can do whatever they want, so if times are better and they need you, they can hire you back.

They break this rule all the time. It just seems to make it a little harder to bring someone back by requiring more reviews for an override.

That language has been around forever yet I see many people come back as contract. Seems if they want/need you, you can come back.
