Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Try to move to STELLANTIS.

I hope everyone is very satisfied there. Not a single post on their site past three years. Now they are profitable and strong. I guess only they will survive out of the big three.

The grass isn't greener at Stellantis. The reason they haven't had to have layoffs is because of the mass exodus in the last few years and few of the losses have been replaced.

They cut 2 shifts at Belvidere which build Cherokee. They also cut shift at Windsor which build Pacifica. If you check the news in the past few months, Stellantis laid off a lot of people in Sterling Stamping, Warren Stamping. This is not a good sign. They laid off all 2000 contractors in March, 2021 at the beginning of pandemic. Don't if they hire anybody back.

STLA is worse than Ford. Employees over there are too much afraid to speak out. Thats why you dont see any post from them.

They are getting rid of unnecessary work according to JF, like inspections, testing, audits, account recons, and who knows what else.

Haha, I can tell stories about Stellantis, the mut that it is.

The grass isn't greener at any of the automakers. It's greener at suppliers, especially tier one. The businesses that service multiple OEMs and others.

I've been part of so many mass auto layoffs in my past, that finally I found a corporation that I think layoffs are impossible, unless you want to shut the doors. Either way, I decided a few years ago I wasn't going to be subject to their layoffs any longer, so I built an income that is pretty much immune to having a job or not - within automotive.

Now, I just don't give an eff. It happens, it happens. It doesn't, I'm still making bank.

Hiring USA backfills has not been allowed for the past 2 yrs at STLA except in extremely rare cases; huge burnout while they try to coast to a complexity reduced future (while forgetting there are products to develop today). Hiring only allowed in so called 'low cost' regions - until they realized it was insulting those hires so they re-branded to 'best cost'. Can't ship buildings/vehicles/test cells/proving grounds there so very limited use-cases and short-changed engineering is the real new norm. The grass is not green on the other side; just slightly less brown.
