Run from the Permian if you have kids. Schools are terrible. Look up the test scores and in addition expect daily events like those described below. They are pathetic failing schools. No wonder the Permian management home school or send their kids to private school.

Similar situation for middle school. There are two charter school options. Their school building is a former strip mall in a cr---y part of town you will have to drive your kids to and from each day as there is no bussing to the charter school.
For elementary school the only decent rated school is the Carver Center which is where all the kids who test well are sent. Plan on your kindergartner spending an hour each way to and from school on the bus or you can drive them yourself all the way across town as the school is in a bad part of town.
There are a few elementary, middle, and one high school that is ranked in the top 10% for education. Most Midland schools are ranked in the bottom 50%.

It could be worse. You could be in the Beaumont or Baton Rouge school districts.
Hey we don't need no fancy Houston people telling us our business. Our schools are just fine. Many people got good oil jobs after being through our schools. We got lots to do here and we drink lots of beer and have fun. If you can't do that then stay on your fancy place.

Be careful, the “The layoff.com website people” do not like that people talks about Permian. I do know why they are very protective when people talks about this place called Midland or Permian.
