I love how Cisco touts sustainability yet keeps organizing massive in person events in the middle of the desert.
Find one other place that hosts large in-person events as cheaply as Las Vegas. Hotels and convention spaces offer their services to companies or groups for dirt cheap to draw in hundreds or thousands of people knowing that it drives up local business revenues, local tax income & gambling profits. The city of Las Vegas has never cared about tourist water consumption.
If big businesses stopped having conventions in Las Vegas, it would severely hurt the businesses in Las Vegas. Between Comdex, now CES, MAGIC (Men's Apparel Guild of CA), National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), JCK Trade Show, G2E, and NFR, there are 5 million convention attendees annually in Las Vegas. Without it, the 62,000 hotel rooms would be hard pressed to be filled all the time.
Impact didn't even make the top 10 conventions of Las Vegas.
Should Cisco host IMPACT? Meh, I don't really have an opinion on that. But having to organize a convention, I'd hands-down, no-argument prefer to deal with the convention center & hotels in Las Vegas than any other metro area.
I hope this event negatively impacts Cisco ESG score. Waste of carbon, sales dirtbags will surely take long showers thinking of Cuckles, contributing to the drain to lake Meade water.
