Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Terrible atmosphere

When I applied here, I knew the situation wasn't ideal, but I really couldn't imagine the atmosphere being this bad. The worst thing is that there are no indications that it could ever get any better. Those who have been here for a long time - has it ever been worse at Honeywell in the past than it is now?

I was at Honeywell for over 10 years and it was never normal to work 72+ hours per week. I worked a 60 hour week once. After several years of busting my tail and not getting recongnized for it, I went back to about 40 hours per week. Then, I left for greener pastures.

This place is broken, but it's supposed to be. It's supposed to be a meat grinder. There is no real plan to keep people, just use them up and replace. Disposable. Leadership doesn't care about you, only the image and share price. Just ignore it all.

We all know who is causing this.
And he is proud of it as he is the one throwing around expensive wines every quarter and play the 3rd grade best SBG games. His sidekicks make the matter worse as no one can talk any sense into this psychopath. Stupid and arrogant, that's it, a lethal combination.
But that said, have you noticed the company's cash flows cannot sustain dividend and buybacks? Hence they are borrowing to buy the shares, so this person can cash out, along with his cronies.
Who did it last time? Immelt of GE.

It blew my mind how some of my colleagues can't see the writing on the wall.......then it hit me....the bright ones already jumped ship! First interview next week, can not wait to escape! The decline of the business in the last 5 years has been staggering, watch the C-Suite run in 2-3 years, that is as long as I think they can get away with it!

In my 38 years as heritage Honeyweller it has never been worse. As others have mentioned regarding their segments, they felt more like family before and heritage HON was that same way. This is the GE/Allied Signal influence on how the company is run. It was not this way prior to AS buying HON. And within Aero this is all MM. It's okay to WFH during the pandemic to keep the company afloat and allow the execs to get their big bonuses but now all of the sudden I have to be in the office to get my job done. Not worth sticking around to see it get even worse. Will be making my retirement plans.

Legacy AiResearch, legacy Honeywell and legacy UOP were all wonderful places to work before the mergers and takeovers started. There was loyalty up and loyalty down, people made an effort to help children and other relatives join in. Long hours sometimes for sure, but there was a team spirit that's totally lacking now -- totally. As others have said, 2018 was when the slide downhill accelerated big-time. My primary function was essentially eliminated in 2017 when Madsen eliminated supplier support funding, and I'd had enough by the following July when I retired, having hired on in 1968.

UOP stories from the old timers break your heart. The stories I heard from long term UOP made it sound like a family. They actually cared.

Now, because of HON, it’s terrible. I haven’t been employed by a more unethical and disgusting company.

IT is laughable.

HR is immoral and how anybody in HR sleeps at night is beyond me.

VP level is up are truly bad people.

@1cor Yeah I too worked 12 hrs a day 6 days a week pretty consistently for a number of years. It wasn't really mandatory but was highly recommended. You would hear about it at review time if you only worked 8 times 5. Good thing! I was hourly at the time and paid off my mortgage about 25 years early. It didn't seem great then but the financial independence now is outstanding.

I was there nearly 50 years and the difference is dramatic. Yes we worked hard and yes sometimes 6 or 7 days a week. But today its neither appreciated or recognized. The changes in benefits and retirements are criminal. It's the haves vs have nots.

It has been better and Absolutely it has been worse. Much of the problem is simply the culture and expectations changing leaving Honeywell behind. The gap is more about cultural change than some evil plot by faceless leadership. There was a time when working 12 hrs a day 6 days a week was absolutely normal.

From my perspective it was in 2018 when the company when significantly downhill and every year just worst. It definitely has to do with HCE, the overall strategy and the folks they have been putting in leadership positions, constant downgrading of benefits, the toxic behaviors that are everywhere in the company as well.

I really don't understand the people that complain how terrible this company is yet still continue to stay. I left over 6 months ago, this company is obviously a failing company but people still sticking around for some reason.

Been here 38 years. I'm in a pretty isolated niche in Aero and most of the nonsense doesn't reach me. Actually a pretty OK place until 2017-2018 or so. It was never anything like this. I don't see any possibility of things getting better. I'm hanging on until retirement. Hoping for (but not depending on) a package. I'll take 26 weeks and walk out happy.
