Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The WARN act, layoffs, and the future of Ford

3000 people across many departments lost their jobs with less than 60 days notice. I wonder if WARN was violated. Warn gives exceptions for sudden, unforeseen business circumstances. The rise of EV was pretty fast, but not unforeseen really. I wonder of 1.7 billion dollar settlement from last week in the roof collapse case was. I feel like the company was in damage control/survival mode and picking up the pieces later. I wonder if this would be a WARN exception also. Thoughts?

Well, the $1,700,000,000 jury award needs to be booked as an expense in Q3, so that’s going to hurt.

There are some speculation that this company will be merged with a german one in the coming years.

It wasn't violated. They kept the layoffs at each site below the reporting threshold. Ford did violate the Inflation Reduction Act, though.

They raised the price of EVs to match the new federal subsidy, so people aren't paying any less for their cars. Shifting $7500 of the cost over to my tax bill doesn't help me put more money into savings.
